**UPDATE!!** This blog post has been pinned and viewed literally thousands of times -- and unfortunately I have found my pictures floating around w/ people taking credit for this idea -- so I am now replacing the pictures with my blog info. :) Hate to have to do this, but if you would like to share this idea on your blog or website, please share my blog link for due credit!
Some of you have done that, and I Thank you!!
Every now and then for Christmas I like to give my friends a small gift. One year it was marble magnets. Another year it was a beautiful HUGE mug filled with awesome cocoa mixes & peppermint sticks. One year I made Mike's grandma's homemade hot orange drink mix and placed it in pint sized mason jars. Another year it was an orange, cloves, bottle of vanilla and a recipe for making a delicious simmering pot of home scent.
This year I wanted to do something for my new friends here in Texas... but I was short on time as far as running all over the place gathering stuff to make whatever. My theme this year (and especially this season) is SIMPLIFY!!
But I did find these Yes to Carrots brand of chapstick. According to all the magazines I'm reading lately, this brand is THE brand to have. Apparently. I wouldn't know. I'm not that "hip" with stuff. But, I found them on sale for .99 cents each at Walgreens instead of the usual price tag of $3.79 each. I thought "ooh, Christmas gifts!" Who wouldn't want a nice chapstick instead of chocolate. OK, I can think of one person who would probably rather have a chapstick than chocolate.... :)
With some help from friends, I have a very clever gift.
(at least I think it's clever! LOL)

ReplyDeleteOh and i love the many faces of mike!
Love it, apparently I'm not hip either, I've never heard of that brand :)
ReplyDeleteSo adorable. They turned out really cute! I'm not hip either, never heard of the brand, but it sounds like they were a great deal!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I made the cut to get one, because that's seriously good chap stick. Thanks Amy!
ReplyDeleteClever girl! I'm not hip either, but I mos def HAVE heard of the brand-- great little gift!

ReplyDeleteI punched two small holes on each side of the lip balm, and put my raffia through those holes, holding it close to the paper, then I criss crossed the raffia in the back of the paper, and brought it to the front and tied a bow! I *might* have even stuck double sided sticky tape on the paper to help the lip balm stay next to the paper, but I'm not sure if I did!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea! Always need more Chapstick in the winter. Thank you for taking the time to share your ideas!
ReplyDeleteWhat type of font did you use? I love it!
ReplyDeleteI figured out finally how to respond to people directly! It's Cherry Cream Soda font -- I found it online somewhere -- I think I googled how to change my font to a better one instead of what Blogger had to offer. :) Good luck!
DeleteThat's the font on the card that the chapstick was attached too?
DeleteHad to look it up ... it's Cherry Cream Soda font. I'm actually trying to get RID of it b/c it's driving me nuts. :) But I haven't had the time to do any blog fixing lately.. so it stays!
ReplyDeleteI really love this idea! AND I made sure when I found a pin of it that didn't link back to you to comment with the link to this post.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Can you post a link where you got the font? I try searching for it but the Cherry Cream soda font looks different from the one you used.
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect! My son is in developmental services at his elementary school, so he has, like, 8 teachers! Reg. K teacher, developmental Teacher, three aides, phys. therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy..and there are probably a few I'm missing. But seriously, every staff member at his school (preschool, preK, K-2)absolutely LOVES him! I should give them ALL a gift! But because there are so many, I needed a small somethin-somethin. This is the ticket! I'm going to add my own twist to it and add some Hershey's kisses. My Grandfather sent me two cases of Strawberry Chapstick a while back, and I already have the cello. gift bags, so all I need are Kisses and ribbon! Thank you thank you thank you! Merry Christmas! And Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this great idea! I actually tweaked it to say a "Chap-free" New Year and gave it as teacher gifts. :)
ReplyDeleteI have found that brand at Target. Works great but now I make my own too. Cute gift idea!!
ReplyDeleteFun idea! Glad the link I followed on pinterest brought me straight to you.
